Pot & Plot Episode 47: A Quiet Place (w/ special guest Razzmatazz)

Posted by joshandsteph in Pot & Plot

It should be no secret that Josh and Steph would probably die real quick in any "be loud and you get killed" situation. They are pretty much only silent when they sleep and even then, Josh snores now that we think about it. So it's probably for the best that the movie they go see with special guest Razzmatazz was not based on their lives in that same world. Because they would die like so fast. It would be like: opening credits, a tiny sequence in which they shouldn't make any noise but can't stop making fun of each other long enough to not get straight up gutted by some bitch ass monster. Anyway, they all took a trip to a semi crowded theater complete with row of dude bros behind them and some loud ass concessions in tow to see the horror/drama/sci-fi movie A Quiet Place and to get PTSD anytime they make noise after the screening as a unit. Would they do it all again? Would they regret not seeing a sure thing like Blumhouse's Truth or Dare (HAHAHA JK! Clearly by how I said it was a sure thing, right? Just making sure you know)? Or maybe they should have just waxed philosophical about troubling shit happening in the real world that we should not stay quiet about? Oh wait, is that what this movie is really about? We are shook AF so please just listen to this episode. Sound is very important and should be treasured, okay?!

Pot & Plot Episode 46: The Beguiled

Posted by joshandsteph in Pot & Plot

I think we’ve all been beguiled a time or two. By your waiter, the regular night time drive thru person at Taco Bell, or the pizza delivery person. You know, or maybe you aren’t dominated by food and good fuh you. Josh and Steph sit in the parlor to converse about a specific beguiling which takes place at a religious charm school of sorts in The Beguiled! It’s the first Sofia Coppola movie to get the Pot & Plot treatment but did it put them under its spell? Or does it need to consult its coven and give it another go? Could it possibly be a bit of both? We will confess they’re both colored “impressed” that non magic mushrooms are such a key plot device. Because they didn’t have TV, the internet, or memes back then so ya know shit was real boring. Unless you’re Jane and then you have unlimited time to play your piano until this hot Scot comes along anyway. Up the creep factor in your life and let them bewitch you with their differing opinions about this drama/thriller by listening to this all new episode! It would be the Christian thing to do! (That is a quote from the movie as ya do)

Pot & Plot Episode 45: Boone: The Bounty Hunter

Posted by joshandsteph in Pot & Plot

“What kinda movie you makin, man?” is maybe a question someone should have asked John Hennigan while making this movie. Nevertheless we were all gifted with the action/drama that is Boone: The Bounty Hunter! Josh and Steph acquired this target by watching it on Netflix and they couldn’t skip it! And they were sure laughing all the way to the bail bonds person at its ridiculousness! Did the over the top acting put them both into a Quentin “Rampage” Johnson? Were they absolutely Boone-d and totally loving it? Or did they want to run! Where? Away! You should come over to our place, we’ll crack open some beers, watch pro wrestling, and listen to it together. Or you could just say “Boone voyage, bitches!” and listen to it now and tweet us later about it #motorboatnoises.

Pot & Plot Episode 44: The Babysitter

Posted by joshandsteph in Pot & Plot

Oh reminiscing on a time where you needed a babysitter, someone to sit on the baby. JK! That’s not what that word means! If you’re Steph, sometimes it was your neighbor Ashley who had you listen to Dookie by Green Day and talked about Survivor (and not the Destiny’s Child song much to Steph’s dismay). If you’re Josh, you can’t remember any of them. But I’m sure none of them had deals with the Devil which is why we’re not talking about them but we are yukking it up about the Netflix original teen horror comedy, The Babysitter! Classic story of boy meets hot older babysitter, hot older babysitter sits on boy...JK JK! It’s more like hot older babysitter sneaks her friends in and slaughter an unbelievably gullible stereotypical nerd dude who really should have evaluated that situation better ahead of time. Things only get more horror-ible for the baby-sat-on Cole from there! Can any of them survive the night? And can Josh and Steph survive this episode? Ready your ears for one wild ride on an all new Pot & Plot and find out!

Pot & Plot Episode 43: The Halloween Tree (w/ Brian Is Ze)

Posted by joshandsteph in Pot & Plot

Ever watched an animated movie where the moral of the story is, “If we face death eyeball to eyeball, it won’t scare us anymore”? Or where a group of kids ditch trick or treating on Halloween to follow a ghost of their friend THROUGH TIME? That also involves them flying around with a guy named Mr. Moundshroud (try saying THAT three times fast) who looks oddly like the yellow villain in Sin City? You may have seen the movie we talk about in this episode with special guest Brian is Ze, The Halloween Tree! This Cartoon Network and Hanna-Barbera produced flick happens to be Brian’s favorite movie that helped shape who ze is as a person! Watching it with Josh and Steph sure made zer rethink that! Join them on this spooktacular night journey through Egypt but it’s brand new with their PC ghost culture, Notre Dame with stone demons, learn about broom making at Stonehenge, Mexico basically just for candy, and bike through Whatevertown USA to have a kid not die in the end! Would they all give one year off of their lives in order to rewatch this movie? You’ve got to listen to learn all of that and more on this all new episode of Pot and Plot!

Pot & Plot Episode 42: 3000 Miles to Graceland

Posted by joshandsteph in Pot & Plot

3000 Miles to Graceland? More like 3000 Miles Away From An Identity! That’s all right though, mamma, because that’s what this podcast is all about! Join Josh and Steph as they sit down to tear this action/adventure, rom com, dramatic heist, Elvis impersonator filled movie that reeks of the early 2000’s a semi new one. It’s like the hole was already there but we’re just reopening it and poking around in there. Does Courtney Cox pull off a Southern accent? Does Kurt Russell do his classic man annoyed with you and charmed by you at the same time gag to her? Also is Kevin Costner convincing as yet another version of himself? It’s almost like he’s just doing improv sets in all his movies. All of this plus some bad jokes on this #1 episode! You could even say it’s The King! Uh-huh-huh-huh! pelvic thrust

Pot & Plot Episode 41: When We First Met

Posted by joshandsteph in Pot & Plot

When we first met, you were like, “Whoa! We are strangers to each other! It’s weird to try to make friends as adults! I’m so awkward!” And we were like, “Dude, so are we!” Or maybe that isn’t what happened when we first met. But it’s very likely! In this episode of Pot and Plot, Josh and Steph travel through time to dissect the newest Netflix original rom com, When We First Met! It’s not like when Hermoine was able to travel through time in the Prisoner of Azkaban unless she did that with a photo booth in which case I need to go back and reread it. Also she probably wasn’t trying to manipulate a lady she met into falling in love with her instead of someone else. Or JK made her more nuanced than a younger me could realize. Is trying to go after the perfect girl “the American dream”? No because that’s Dusty Rhodes. But tune in to hear us talk about all of this and more on this episode of Pot and Plot! Candid!

Pot & Plot Episode 40: Collision Course

Posted by joshandsteph in Pot & Plot

Who in their right mind would cast Pat Morita and Jay Leno in a movie together? And then not even release that movie in the US until several years later? Also who thought Jay Leno was believable as a cop? Rev up your engine as we touch on all of that plus Steph’s mediocre Leno impression in this all new explosive episode of Pot and Plot!

Pot & Plot Episode 39: Pottersville

Posted by joshandsteph in Pot & Plot

Snow, trees, holiday cheer, and it being December all sound like holiday movie elements. But add in Bigfootmania, Tom Lennon with his Monster Finder reality show, furries, Judy Greer playing the supportive barista (because of course; give her more leading roles, Hollywoo), an alcoholic Ian McShane, and now we’re confused. And did we mention furries? But that’s Pottersville for ya! Does it matter that we watched this in January? No because Netflix doesn’t care what month it is (and neither do our holiday hearts). This episode mostly pertains of Josh and Steph putting on their detective hats and trying to answer some real Burning Questions(TM). Who is this movie for? How did they get such big name actors? And will we ever recognize Christina Hendricks without red hair? Press play to get the scoop!

Pot & Plot Episode 38: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Posted by joshandsteph in Pot & Plot

Hope you’re ready to be brought to your SHA NA NA NA NA KNEES! KNEES! by this episode in which we reflect on the newest addition (which my phone corrected to ‘agitation’ lololol) to the Jumanji series, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle! Do we think this not sequel is solid as a rock? Or did we feel it has a lot of Hart? Maybe we were even like, “It’s back in Black!” Oh wait! That’s not Guns N Roses. Anyway, it’s a jungle out there and in this ep! But we have a feeling you’ll end up with a Hanks-ering for more all in this release from Pot & Plot!
